Best Career Upgrade for Nurses in California

Did you know with an hourly fee of up to $150, osteopathic manual practice is the highest paid health profession nurses can enrol through online education as a postgraduate program?

A large number of osteopathic manual practitioners (OPM) are nurses who supplement their income by working on a part time or full time basis as an OMP, charging patients up to $150 per hour for manual osteopathic care they provide for chronic pain.

All nurses in California receive advanced credits allowing them to earn a diploma in osteopathic manual practice - D.O.M.P. (online or in-campus) in a shorter time (6 months) at lower tuition ($7800 US approximately). Our program is open to all nurses no matter if they are registered or not.

National Academy of Osteopathy is the largest provider of manual osteopathic education worldwide teaching in 68 countries. We also have two sister universities (National University of Medical Sciences) in Spain and USA teaching a number of online health related degrees such as MBA in healthcare (www.numss.com and www.numss.us).

In the states (and California) we have a number of Osteopathy Chronic Pain Clinics of Canada (OCPCC), which our alumni can join upon graduation. Currently OCPCC has 157 clinics across the world.

Nurses interested to study on-campus can attend the York University Heights campus of NAO in Toronto. Two weeks of optional practical technique classes are provided in Toronto for online students.

Our alumni are permitted to work in all States as osteopathic manual practitioners. They are not permitted to call themselves osteopaths in the US as the term osteopath is reserved for osteopathic physicians (DO). We teach European style manual osteopathy, also known as osteopathic manual practice. Our practice is hands-on only, no surgery, and no medications.

To receive our information package including the academic calendar please send an email to admissions@nationalacademyofosteopathy.com. For more information please visit www.nationalacademyofosteopathy.com.

Registered nurse & osteopathic manual practitioner Candace Terry, RN, DOMP writes about why she chose National Academy of Osteopathy:

After twenty-two years of nursing, I was at a point in my career that I needed a change. I met a Manual Osteopath during a training session for concussion analysis and treatment. I was very interested and started to look up what Manual Osteopathy was and quickly discovered that manual osteopathy coincided with my beliefs of treating a person as a whole.

So I started to look into the different schools that offered manual osteopathy. Finally deciding on NAO (National Academy of Osteopathy) and I am so happy I did. I first selected NAO because it allowed me to do full time courses online. It also had very good reviews from past students, even students that had attended other Manual Osteopathy schools then went to NAO.

When I started, the passion for manual osteopathy Dr. Pourgol conveyed when he was teaching made it feel like he was right in the room with you. His love for Manual Osteopathy made me want to learn more and more. Then when I went to Toronto for the 2 week hands-on, seeing the team in-person made me feel like I was part of a special family. The love I have for my new profession just increased tenfold.

The business classes were above and beyond what I was expecting. There were many times I said “I wish I knew that before” or “Wow. That makes so much sense.” I even caught my husband hanging around when I was watching my classes and saying quietly “Hmm”, “Okay”, and “Yes”.

I am looking forward to doing the dual degree BSc (O) and DO (Spain).

Thank you.

It Is Always Your Fault!

I know it is easy to blame others for your problems, but whatever you go through is your own responsibility. Everything that happens to you is your own responsibility. If you are not successful in business ( I do not mean you personally!) it is 100% your own fault, not the tax system, not the government, not the economy, not the competition, not osteopathy. It is YOU. It is always you!
You are the one at fault. You fix your brain, you fix your life. If you do not like the story of your life, then you have to tell a different story. Take responsibility for your life and then you can change it to the way you want. Blame others for your failure and you remove responsibility from your life. The good thing is as you accept responsibility for your life, then it means you can change your life the way you want.

I Miss the Music!

White paper birch tree is one of my most favourite trees. I cannot wait for the spring to feel the music again.

Don't you just love how this tree sings for you, when the wind blows through its leaves?

In the summer time I sometimes sit in front of this tree for hours, thinking how beautiful this life is while listening to the music its leaves makes.

This summer find a white paper birch tree, sit in front of it, listen to its music, and give thanks to it for bringing beauty to your life.

Nature, with the trees in it, are a big source of my creativity.

Plant Based Diet

If you have a health condition, if you are always tired, if you want to become healthier and happier, if you do not like how the food industry treats animals, I highly recommend you to start a plant based diet. I did, and it changed my life.

Plant-based diets and vegan diets aren't the same. Plant-based means incorporating more plant products and plant proteins into your daily diet without completely eliminating animal products such as milk, yogurt, eggs, seafood, poultry, cheese, etc. It is less restrictive than vegan and easier to follow.

Basically, plant-based can mean upping your veggie & fruits intake and reducing your intake of animal products, or removing certain types of animal products from your diet completely. In my case I removed red meat but continue to eat dairy products, seafood and occasionally poultry.

Eating more plants and cutting back on meat is almost always a good thing, as research tells us consuming a plant-based diet can help reduce our risk of developing chronic conditions like diabetes, obesity, cancer, and heart disease,

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, can be greatly influenced by a plant-based diet as well. Research from the Harvard School of Public Health suggests that diets rich in fruits and veggies can actually work to significantly lower blood pressure. With high blood pressure comes increased risk of having a stroke or developing heart disease, both of which are the two leading causes of death.

I cannot anymore

As I grow older I find it hard to eat any farm animals. I no longer in good conscious can eat industrialist farm raised animals. The way they are treated is horrible.

While I still eat animals, I limit them mostly to wild cut seafood. I am so happy there are so many delicious vegetables and fruits available.

My body feels better, a fog has lifted from my mind, my blood pressure is back to normal, I am no longer per-diabetic, and my fatty liver is gone!

Give yourself a favor. Cut meat from your diet. You feel a lot better. I assure you.

Flexing my biceps is my trademark while I teach. I was told by management not to talk about my muscles when I teach but I cannot resist.

Here is a photo of my students with Professor Rachel Orr, BA, RMT, DOMP teaching osteopathic soft tissue therapy. They took a group photo flexing their biceps just for me!

At 4:30 in the morning, when I saw this photo it brought so much joy and happiness to my heart. It reminded me why I work so hard.

Top Lucrative Locations to Work as Manual Osteopaths

In these series I will introduce locations around the world where the practice of manual osteopathy is quite lucrative.

Naples, Florida (USA)

Naples (Florida) is one of the richest towns in the US. In 2016 it was chosen as the happiest town in the states. It is also one of the top 10 most beautiful cities in USA and #1 in Florida.

The population is mostly wealthy and seniors. There are many medical clinics in every corner of the city. Osteopathic manual practitioners in Naples generally charge $150 (US) or higher per hour of manual osteopathic care, making on average over $24,000 US per month, with minimal office expenses. They get booked pretty quickly through word of mouth referrals as manual osteopathy offers amazing miraculous treatments for chronic pain as well as relaxation.

Florida does not have personal state income tax, so aside from federal tax, there is not much other expenses.

In my business lectures I go over how to find employment in this city and how to move there if you are not a US resident.
